It Begins with Great Ingredients

Awhile back a good friend of ours had prepared a presentation for one of our clients to learn more about his company.  On that first meeting he invited the client to have lunch at his studio.  It is such a vivid memory in that is was an overall sensory experience and not just a meeting.  What was typically "just a component of construction" became an experience.

Walking into his studio we were met with the incredible smells of a well prepared meal, beautifully set out for presentation on his hand crafted farm tables.  It was just a casual lunch but even the small things were not overlooked ... the plates were China, flatware was silver, napkins a beautifully patterned fabric, and glasses were crystal.  Before things began the tone was set to make it something different and with purpose.

Our client loved the attention to detail and the pinnacle of the meeting came when the client paused at one of the dishes and inquired, "Are those Heirloom tomatoes?",  which the response came as "Yes they are, and just like this food I believe that all projects and anything I craft must essentially begin with great ingredients..."

Living in your home, you should experience life, feel captivated by the shifts of light through the day, find rest when you need it, and laughter in every corner.  So many times we overlook the fact that some of the simplest things in design begin with "great ingredients".  Often times we reach for the product that satisfies our immediate need, but in time it falters as it was never constructed last, and it in turn becomes an obstacle.  We hope that in the time ahead we can talk about ideas, share our experiences to inspire aspects in your own home and life.  It is often just the simple thoughtful steps which can make a profound difference to us.  So begins The Creative Salad, a blog about enjoying a life of simple abundance!
