Night of A Thousand Candles

We just got back from Brookgreen Gardens in Litchfield Beach, SC...one of my favorite places in the world. Every December they have a "Night of a Thousand Candles", which is literally a thousand candles, plus lights in all the trees and sculpture gardens. It is a breathtaking experience of music and lights that has a way of just setting everything right for the holiday season .

This year, they had a display of live wreaths and tree displays created from succulents and other beautiful greenery. My daughter especially loved the "live" horse and the orchid wreaths.

I love visiting Brookgreen...even if only for just one evening. It is a culmination of everything lovely. It reminds me that we are sensory beings. Perhaps when decorating your house for the holidays, think about not only the lights, but the music playing softly in the background, boiling cinnamon and cloves on the stove top. Take a break from the shopping madness just to sit down with a cup of hot chocolate and soak it all in!
